Portrait Exhibition for Keeping Abreast

12th November 2013
Femininity comes from within...

Julia has been working with local charity Keeping Abreast over the past 5 years and has now put together an exhibition of images of breast cancer patients at different stages of their journey with breast reconstruction following cancer treatment. The idea was started following the request of a patient to be photographed showing her mastectomy scar. In conjunction with the charity Julia approached other women who had undergone or were undergoing breast reconstruction surgery to show that women can still look strong and beautiful regardless of what life throws at them.

The title of the exhibition, "Femininity comes from within" was part of a moving speech by another patient at the charity's fashion show in 2012. 14 women in total are featured in the exhibition and have been photographed over the past 6 months in a classical style with just a simple swathe of pink fabric making reference to breast cancer.
The exhibition is a feature in the November Norwich Resident magazine and can be viewed here. The exhibition opens on Thursday November 21st and runs until Sunday December 1st at the Undercroft in Norwich city centre
